Ten years later, China's wind and solar power generation will exceed that of thermal power

By 2030, China’s carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP will drop by more than 65% compared to 2005, non-fossil energy will account for about 25% of primary energy consumption, and forest storage will increase by 6 billion cubic meters compared with 2005. Wind power, The total installed capacity of solar power will reach more than 1.2 billion kilowatts.

This is a series of new measures of China's National Independent Contributions revealed at the Climate Ambition Summit on December 12. And before that, on September 22, China just announced its vision of striving to achieve the peak of carbon emissions by 2030 and striving to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

"This fully reflects China's ambitious and down-to-earth vision. The grand vision of carbon neutrality in 2060 is being transmitted to specific indicators and different time nodes in specific fields. The blueprint for this grand project is being fully developed and is closely integrated into China's modernization. The whole process of the road."

Zou Ji, CEO of the Energy Foundation and President of China Region, said that among the various goals, non-fossil energy accounted for 25%, laying the foundation for the energy transition for the comprehensive low-carbonization of various economic sectors; Solid support for the target of non-fossil energy proportion; more than 65% of the carbon intensity index was proposed in the context of a decline in economic growth and an increase in consumption, which reflects the confidence and responsibility to deal with challenges.

Data show that by the end of 2019, my country's installed renewable energy power generation capacity reached 794 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 9%. Among them, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic both exceeded 200 million kilowatts-the cumulative installed capacity of wind power across the country was 210 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 14.0%; the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation was 204 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%.

Although the epidemic has brought a certain impact on the development of the industry this year, the wind power and photovoltaic industries have recovered rapidly and achieved restorative growth. According to statistics previously released by the National Energy Administration, by the end of the third quarter of 2020, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power across the country will reach 223 million kilowatts.

Ren Yuzhi, deputy director of the New Energy Department of the National Energy Administration, recently revealed at the China Photovoltaic Industry Annual Conference that China’s newly installed photovoltaic capacity this year will be 35 million kilowatts, which will remain the world’s number one for eight years; the cumulative installed capacity will reach 240 million kilowatts. , Will surpass wind power to become the third largest power source in China.

Current data shows that wind power and photovoltaics have to achieve a cumulative target of 1.2 billion kilowatts, and at least 720 million kilowatts of growth will be needed in the next ten years. Based on this calculation, the next annual new installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic will not be less than 72 million kilowatts. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, my country's annual average new installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaics totaled approximately 62.63 million kilowatts.

However, industry estimates are more optimistic. The China Photovoltaic Industry Association predicts that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the average annual domestic installed capacity of photovoltaics is generally estimated to be 70 million kilowatts, and optimistically, it is estimated to be 90 million kilowatts.

The "Beijing Declaration on Wind Energy" jointly issued by more than 400 representatives of wind energy companies this year stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, it is necessary to ensure that the average annual new installed capacity of wind power exceeds 50 million kilowatts. After 2025, the average annual new installed capacity of wind power in China should be No less than 60 million kilowatts, at least 800 million kilowatts by 2030, and at least 3 billion kilowatts by 2060.

Analysis believes that in the "14th Five-Year Plan", new energy and other renewable energy represented by photovoltaics are expected to become the main driving force of my country's energy growth.
